Hall of Fame basketball player Dikembe Mutombo will receive the Sager Strong Award at this year’s NBA Awards show.
The award is named for longtime Turner Sports sideline reporter Craig Sager and presented annually to an individual who has been a trailblazer while exemplifying courage, faith, compassion and grace.
For the second game in a row, the Celtics struggled in the first quarter.
Boston got some open looks, but shot just 27 percent (7 of 26) in the first 12 minutes with both Tatum and Brown missing dunks. Also, Morris picked up three quick fouls.
Via Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News, Ennis gave “extensive testimony,” during which she said Foster never struck her once, but that she hit him with a hanger.
“I was threatening Reuben . . . that I was going to f–k up his career,” Ennis said.
She added that she called 911 three separate times in order to ensure that Foster would be in major trouble.
“I wanted to be extra,” Ennis said. “I wanted him to go down. I was pissed.”
Ennis said she was reacting to Foster’s effort to break up with her.
“I told him I’m going to f–k your shit up and make sure you don’t have a job tomorrow,” Ennis said.
But it was about more than revenge. Ennis testified that there was a financial angle to it.
Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni made the point once again about Paul being healthy: “There’s nothing wrong at all.”
“We’re not going to win without him,” D’Antoni said. “So if he’s got to limp and drag his leg to the finish line, so be it. And he’s ready to do that.”
“Somebody asked me, ‘Is Oracle tough to play?’ Yeah, because the Warriors play here,” D’Antoni said. “There’s a certain energy that their fans will give them and moments they hit two or three 3s you can get a buzz going that helps the home team. You just have to try to keep that crowd out as much as you can.”
